Johannes Oeffner

Johannes Oeffner leads the team “Maritime Technologies & Biomimetic”. His team focusses on developing biomimetic solutions, robotic assistence systems and emission sensor fror the maritime sector. The team works supports green shipping technologies by means of numerical and experimental fluid dynamics, rapid prototyping and technology assessments. Johannes has a background in biology, biomimetics and fluid dynamics. Prior to the CML, he was working as a Hydro acoustics scientist in New Zealand, participating in experimental research surveys and being involved in signal processing, data handling and analysis. He has co-authored scientific literature on biomimetic sensing and fluid dynamics, fisheries hydro acoustics and autonomous navigation systems. Johannes initiated and is coordinating the Horizon 2020 EU-Project AIRCOAT with the aim to develop a disruptive friction reducing ship coating.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 871295.

The SEACLEAR project spans four years, running from January 1st, 2020 to December 31st, 2023.
