On 10th of July, Subsea Tech received the SeaCat Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) from the shipyard which manufactured the hull and integrated the propulsion. SeaCat will be used as the surface platform to deploy the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and the two Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicles (ROVs) to locate and collect litter from the seabed and from the water column in the SeaClear project. This is a great step forward for the project as the team will now be able to work on hardware/software integration during the coming months. SeaCat is a 6.70 m long – 1.1 ton USV with 250 kg payload capacity and 7 days autonomy, able to embark, in addition to the ROVs, various sensors and tooling for coastal and offshore missions. SeaCat is housed in a purpose built new workshop at Subsea Tech seaside facilities in Marseilles.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 871295.

The SEACLEAR project spans four years, running from January 1st, 2020 to December 31st, 2023.
